Lucid Woodturners is a 'virtual' group of woodturners from around the world.

We bring together turners who explore, refine and SHARE ideas, tools and techniques that advance woodturning, and make woodturning available to more people.

The vision for this group is that it be about using technologies like video, computers, audio, lasers, 3D printing, and various other techniques to produce, share and teach woodturning.  Kind of a hi-tech turners group.

The group's mission is all about sharing.
Remote demonstrations will certainly be a part of it because it uses computers to reach audiences that are not currently well served.

Using tech to help with physical limitations is another important topic (e.g., a Lighthouse for the Blind now uses a camera and large screen monitor at their lathe to help visually impaired members participate). Real-time closed captioning can help demonstrators reach hearing impaired audiences or simply be effective in a noisy trade show environment.

Hopefully this group, will work together, play with some new toys, develop best practices, explore new technologies, as well as sourcing, testing and vetting new techniques.

The intent is that members will help writers, demonstrators, club program chairs, photographers, videographers and others to present the findings of this group.
